Sunforce solar controller

I've got the 30 amp sunforce controller with two 45W panels hooked up to it using AWG 14 gauge wires. I see the yellow light on indicating that charging is working but I never see the battery state lights lighting up. Even when the bats are fully charged off shore power these lights don't ever light up in any of the four states.

I'm wondering if I'm actually putting on charge or have it connected to the batteries incorrectly. I have the battery wires connected to a ground terminal on the large ground bus where a bunch of the other ground wires connect and I have the positive wire connected to the Feeder post on the battery selector switch. Any ideas why?

Thanks,
J
