Link is broken, but ideally you get an external three stage
regulator and set it for exactly the specs the
battery manufacturer requires, regardless of the chemistry, they would all be set to specs.
However there are many, many
AGM batteries in automobiles, just put an Optima in my Daughters Prius for her to go to college with the other day, factory battery in a Miata is an AGM and I have had an Optima in the wife's car for 12 years.
All of course are just cars with internally regulated alternators, not three stage, just put out 14V plus or minus .2 V , yet they survive.
They are not except the Prius Deep Cycle and none are deep cycled.
In short, in my opinion it will
work OK, it will not kill the battery.
However if you had a three stage reg and set it correctly it would likely make the battery last longer, long enough to pay for the external reg? Maybe not unless your cruising.
Now this is just my opinion
