We have brought 3 panels from eBay and they have been brilliant. A mate has also just brought 4x200w panels on there and they are also very good value. He just paid 220ea. Mine were more but that was a year ago and the price came down since I got mine. I wouldn't bother with the marine re-sellers here no value for money at all. Ps we are in Sydney

Re: solar panels - any recommendations nsw supplier
I have no first hand knowledge but I have been doing some research as I will be fitting my boat with a solar panel system this year. It seems that people are havig good luck with panels from UL-solar. these panels seem to be reasonably priced for the wattage. Again no first hand experience but I am leaning towards these.

Re: solar panels - any recommendations nsw supplier
If you are worried about size, weight or power output then try these.
Sanyo 237 are 61" x 31" and 35 lbs
SunPower 240 are 61" x 31" and 33 lbs
SunPower 327 are 61" x 41" and 41 lbs
I personally know of 8 boats using these panels with great performance.

I'm no expert but we have just had two SunPower 327's installed on our boat, on the recommendation of SALT Services here in Marathon. SALT does a lot of work with solar on land and sea, and they say they like Sun Power the best. Bob Williams of SALT does a great webinar through SSCA on solar power, describing the different kinds of panels, trade-offs, tips and tricks. He's a very smart dude.

Re: solar panels - any recommendations nsw supplier
Well, did any of you guys notice that the OP was in Australia?
A good guy in Marathon is nice to know about, but little help for the OP.
Being that I'm also in New South Wales (NSW!), I'm interested in good sources as well.
Cheers,
Jim

Re: solar panels - any recommendations nsw supplier
We have a few boats in a Australia using the SunPower and Sanyo panels. Location should not be a problem.

We just installed in NSW (and we can source) Sunpower panels and they work brilliantly. Contact us when you're ready to install.

I mentioned Bob Williams because he does webinars on solar energy through SSCA (Seven Seas Cruising Association! covering all seven seas!) on the WWW (WORLD WIDE Web! accessible from EVERYWHERE!) ; )
