You may not be aware of the solution to this. Maine Sail has written it up hundreds of times on this and other boating forums. You simply change the set point of one to be different than the other, and you no longer have to shut the solar off. Since I don't have a large solar array, I forget the specific answer, but either someone else will chime in or you can go to Maine Sail's website and find it.
