Solar damage Mathew

I have two 420 watt solar panels and one was damaged beyond repair....I cannot find another 420 watt panel in Florida and the company that I originally bought theses panels from don't carry them anymore .....i would like to keep this 420 watt panel and add maybe two more 300watt panels.....but I am being told that it's not wise to miss match the panels with the same outback 80 controller ....and if I want to do this miss match I would need to purchase another controller ....

Just wondering if anyone is using different size (wAtts) panels with the same controller and if they have had problems or how to resolve it
Thanks

Re: Solar damage Mathew

Unless the 300 watt panels have the same Vmp as the 420 watt panel, you are going to be wasting power and I wouldn't recommend that.

I would recommend looking at the label on the back of the panel and contacting the mfr directly. They should be able to get you a replacement 420 watt panel with a minimum of hassle. These things have 25 yr warranties on them.
