Our wind generator
puts out 3 phase AC ( Windforce 600w.) At certain rpm's and on certain freqs., the noise
on the VHF
makes the radio
unusable. On the HF radio
the problem is less pronounced but still there. In the case of the HF, you can turn off the generator
when you need to use the radio
but no so with the VHF
The manufacture says this problem is inherent with an AC generator
and there is nothing to be done about it.
We used to have a AIR X wind generator
which is also an AC generator. The noise
was there but not a problem, pretty much. The Air X had an internal controller but the Sunforce has an external controller The power leads from the Sunforce generator travel probably 10' to the controller, inside a metal tube all except for the last 2'.
If we had known of this problem with the Sunforce, we would not have bought it but that is water
under the bridge.
Are there any ideas on how to cut down on the noise?
