relocating battery charger ?

Hi,

My battery charger is located in the middle of my 31 foot cabin cruiser's hull, right between the engines and it's the worst possible place as it's sitting in the air and stops me from getting good access to the engines. I'd like to relocate the charger.

The boat has two mercruiser 350s, a 5 battery house bank and a separate cranking battery for each engine. So there's 3 banks: Port, Starboard, House.

Can some members please suggest better place to locate the charger (side, towards the front near the water tank">fresh water tank, at rear near fuel tanks (hopefully no one suggests this).

Thanks in advance.

Re: relocating battery charger ?

HI , you can move a battery charger to wherever you want to position it, provided that you get the connection cables (wires ) sized to the correct size, if you can move it without needing to have longer cables then you will have no real concern.

The proviso is if the charger needs to be ventilated you must consider how this is to be carried out (additional fans and ducting along with some vents) some chargers get fairly hot while others don't. and you haven't stated the brand and model
