I am offering another thought on the subject that I have done. Have the
alternator power the lithium directly, and the dc2dc supply from lithium
power to the start battery. This can add a lot of complications, but it does allow a high output alternator to recharge the lithium directly. The dc2dc converters are only good for maybe 20 amps. If you have a 200 amp alternator connected to
engine battery and a small dc2dc, it will never be used at even 25 percent of capacity.
As I said, my system has a lot not mentioned here. But is is a way to use all the power of a high output alternator to charge lithium house.
