Potential Solar Setup

I'm looking at an LG 315 Watt panel, coupled with a Victron 30 amp controller, Bluetooth dongle, and 2 Firefly Carbon Foam batteries (116ah - 20 hr rate). In about six months, I'd like to add one more battery.

Right now, the only thing I have running constantly is a Dometic refrigerator which draws about 50 amps/day. My electronics consist of an iPad for navigation and a depth sounder. I won't be leaving the dock for more than 2 days until spring when I go to the Bahamas.

I'd appreciate thoughts on brands mentioned, setup etc. The system is going on a Pearson 36-2. Thanks in advance.

Re: Potential Solar Setup

I would try to put all 3 batteries in at the same time. same age in the bank matters.

Re: Potential Solar Setup

fwiw, i have a single fridge/freezer (~50aH/day) and i run a 130W panel with an MPPT controller and it meets my daily needs at anchor (in sun) with room to spare.

i would +1 to add the extra battery earlier rather than later...particularly since you have selected a very large panel relative to your battery bank

Re: Potential Solar Setup

Is anybody familiar with the Outback 12v 105ah? That's an alternative that the company offered.
