Phasor generator issues may need rebuilt?

We have a Phasor E300-Es01, 5.2 kw. Worked great. Then not. changed the Capacitor. To the tune of $60.00 each. Can't seem to find the $10. Capacitors people talk about. Produces 7 v ac. Don't know the phase output. Unit may have 300 hrs total. about a '07.
Looking for information about rebuilding the generator or any troubleshooting info.

You don't say where you are located, but in the US, Grainger, McMaster-Carr and any local HVAC company or extensive hardware store sell the capacitors pretty cheaply (less than $20USD). They are simple motor run capacitors used universally. We even bought some right on the street in Cartagena Columbia for $10.

Re: Phasor generator issues may need rebuilt?

Thanks for the reply!

I'm a mechanical contractor and come across capacitors weekly. Unfortunately none have the cool mounting nut and the mfd and voltage is way out from my normal channels.

Anybody rebuild these generators or should I just look for another. Next Gen seems to be the best contact in Fl for Phaser Generators?

SO.... What are some generators that have a reliable marine track record and ample parts sources outside and inside US? Or should I expect a 5 yr dosposable life?

Re: Phasor generator issues may need rebuilt?

You don't need the fancy mounting nut - just use wire ties or similar and mount where convenient. The only important spec is mfd, the voltage can be anything over 250V.

NextGen sells Phasor also and you could probably buy a new head from them or elsewhere. They may be able to give you some trouble shooting advice. It would be unusual for the generator head to be a complete loss given its age and the way it suddenly stopped working without any other symptoms.

We have had both Phasor and NextGen generators. The Kubota engine parts are pretty universally available, as are the standard marinization parts like the water pump, zincs, etc. The generator heads used are either Markon or Stamford and are used worldwide in lots of construction generators.
