Pete7 that's just one of those solar frames that follows the sun. You just have to turn it off every time you want to use the radar! Either that or trim bow down so the radar is horizontal.
I have heard racing yachts who use one also get a bigger handicap as it's like a small kite on the transom. I think the racers call it a Spolar?

The issue of load on home made solar installations has come up on the forum. It's not just a matter of being strong enough to hold up the panels, given the very large flat area involved and the annoying tendency of sailboats to expose themselves to all available wind.
