No charge from Solar Panel

My 12 year old rigid 80 watt solar panel has stopped charging. The controller starts charging at 13.0 volts and stops at 14.2 volts. The Link 2000 shows 12.4 volts on the house bank with the charger off. There are no obvious sign of damage to the panel. In full sunlight the terminal under the panel reads 19.6 volts with no current at the terminal or the Link 2000. The solar panel label shows the following:
1. 80 watts rated
2. 16.8 volts rated
3. 21.1 volts open circuit
4. 4.5 A rated current
5. 4.9 A short circuit current
6. 600 volts max system open
7. 20 A bypass diode
Any advise would be appreciated.

Re: No charge from solar panel

If you are getting voltage at the panel then most likely culprit is the controller.

I would:

- check voltage from panel at the control to see if you are getting voltage to the controller (and it is not something simple like a loose wire).

- swap out the controller with a known good controller and see if you get charge then...

Corroded or broken connection between the panel and the controller. You can always bypass the controller temporarily if it has gone bad, or bypass the original wire with a temporary wire to test if the panel is still putting out juice. I've got some panels that are older than that still working, but I think most are only guaranteed for 10 years.
