Nexgen has a pretty neat way of draining the
oil, it has a permanently connected hose to the
engine drain
plug hose, so all you have to do is take the cap off the end of the hose and put it in a container to drain it.
However I recently had a problem that I’d like show other users, so they can avoid my mess, apparently you should ensure that the hose doesn’t get trapped between the
generator and the bottom of the sound shield if so equipped, I didn’t do that and the hose chafed through from
generator vibrations I’m sure. I think this can be avoided by placing the hose alongside of the shield, and not letting the bulk of it slide under the generator. Not a big deal, but we
lost use of our generator of course due to low
oil pressure, took me awhile to figure out where the oil went, embarassedly I admit to just having changed the oil, and I figured I had a senior moment and not reserviced it, so I added more, only to have it happen again.
I pulled the hose out to take the picture of course, it was under the generator.
This isn’t to complain about a design issue, but meant to alert other owners to an easily preventable problem from not knowing any better.
