I would try the EVA with adhesive as used on surfboards and stand-up paddle boards and boat steps. Normally I have cut-offs of the medium gray and I 'up-cycle' it often to pad things. I have also sanded off the diamonds and used it to replace the gaskets in older Perko-style small boat navigation lights.

Some dollar flip-flops or depleted tennis shoes and contact cement might work too.

Or contract Sperry to make you a set of 4 custom round 'topsiders' with the white soles and sides with the laces and eyelets...
