new batteries with different voltage levels

Hi Everyone,

I've just bought two new batteries for our boat (Trojan SCS150) and charged them up for the first time. I've noticed though that they charge to different voltage levels. The house battery shows 12.55V (on my multimeter) at full charge while the cranking battery has 13.22V. Is this normal? is there this much variation in charge level, or should I be calling my battery vendor to ask for a replacement? Currently the cranking battery is isolated and hasn't had any load (I'm still wiring and the starter isn't hooked up yet) could this maybe be the source of the discrepancy?

If you have or have had any load on the house bank the voltage may well be different.

Charge both, let rest, recheck.
Hydrometer is better than voltage.

Charging battery still has a surface charge on it. It will settle in to 12.6 or so after 24 hours with no load or charging.
House batteries either have had a load on them to wipe out the surface charge since charging or still have a little ways to go if the meter is accurate.
