Mastervolt 12/70 Equalization Issues

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has had success equalizing with the mastervolt 12/70 charger. I have followed the directions exactly as they appear in the manual:

1) Make sure batteries are charged and the charger is in float mode
2) Switch dip switch 4 on and then off again

It says this will start equalization but it does not.

Any ideas?

Re: Mastervolt 12/70 Equalization Issues

EDIT - Nevermind I figured this out.

1st....not immediately obvious is that you don't see the charger display go from float into equalize mode. It still says float.

2nd... the voltage slowly ramps up to 15.x volts so its not like the display automatically switches to show 15.5 volts.

3rd...before flipping the dip switch you need to turn off the "lock" mode on the charger by hitting the "info" key until you see the lock mode, then hit the source button to switch it off... then immediately switch the dip switch.

Re: Mastervolt 12/70 Equalization Issues

Edit Edit... its getting annoying talking to myself now

It turns out that I was NOT able to get the equalization mode running after-all. Although the mastervolt panel does indicate that equalization is on, the voltage never rises.

So, I ended up just increasing my bulk and absorption voltages to 15.5 and setting the minimum time for bulk to 3 hours and the absorption to 8.

This appears to have worked except that the voltage never did rise to 15.5 but instead was stuck at 15.3
