Lewmar Winch Motor - Carbon Brushes

Have a Lewmar ST44 winch which around 15 years ago, a Lewmar Electric Winch conversion kit was added.


Nothing wrong with the unit, but would like to check the carbon brushes, and if necessary, replace, but having no luck in finding any diagrams or instructiions regarding this.

Has anyone done this, or have a good idea how to access the brushes.

I got inpatient, and on the assumption the most likely place would be under the end cap, removed the two set screws, pulled the cap gently away, and there were the two brushes. In remarkably clean condition, and look like they will last another 15 years.
