Led controller

Bought a catamaran no cockpit lights. I troubleshoot back to a Led controller. Why would one need a led controller? Same lights in salon no controller there I can find. Only one (kinda worked)out of Three lights worked so replacing.

Re: Led controller

Not sure what more info is needed. I have always just removed incandescent fixtures and wired in led’s no controller. The new lights won’t use it so it was more a curiosity as to why one would be needed.

Re: Led controller

Most bulbs have the controller built in to run direct on 12v. Downlights built for domestic (under cabinet and the ilk) often have a separate controller for multiple lights. In the early days of LED, domestic ones were often repurposed for RVs and boats etc as there werr few other affordable options
