Lead crystal batteries

Hi all. Wondering if anyone has any experience with lead crystal batteries - price compared with, say, AGM; value for money, performance etc. The promo material I have read said they perform as well as lithium ion (can discharge 100% etc) but at a lower cost. Looking for actual experience reports. Thanks.

On the books they look too good to be true. Willing to be a test dummy for the rest of us?

If I had unlimited funds, would love to give them a run, but not interested in being the guinea pig if they are expensive duds!

I've not heard of them before, I'll be doing some research, alibaba has listings for them at pricing below gels.

Lead crystal batteries

Yes, they were new to me too when I read a reference last week. Here's a comparison I found. That's why it so keen to find a user.

Re: Lead crystal batteries

That comparison has lithium as "average" discharge rate. My lithium polymers I use for rc airplanes put out an incredible amount of energy in a short time. I don't know if I would trust this.

Re: Lead crystal batteries

looks a bit more legit with a list of 'claimed' customers... i would still prefer someone else to be the guinea pig...

Our customers

sounds too good to be true...

Follow this long Cruisers Forum thread which attempts to answer your questions - but fails:

I had extensive communications with the company who failed too answer my questions. Has anyone heard any more in the last three years.

I haven't watched this whole video yet, but I'm sure others will find it interesting. This fella knows his stuff and his videos are excellent.

Lead crystal batteries

Hey thanks for this. Very interesting and his test seems to bear out the manufacturer's claims. I still want to find someone who has been running their boat on a lead crystal setup with multiple charge inputs ie solar, wind and generator.

Once a battery gets below 1% (11.9v) it's useless, even at that some equipment won't or hardly work. Most good electronics will auto off at 11.5v.

I'd be more concerned about their longevity. My last set of marine batteries lasted 7-1/2 years. Vessels should alway have the capability of keeping batteries up to snuf. I found with enough battery power, I could go two days w/o a recharge. And usually within that time I always had to start my motor for one reason or another. On the hook in far away places, solar would have come in handy. But a half hour run time on the motor, when down to 12.2v kept up, on my charging system.
