I have a Kohler 8K
generator that started and ran great, but was not putting out any ac
power.
I read about "flashing" the system to re-energize the magnetism necessary to get the
power back.
$10 Solution...
I purchased a 12' extension cord from Dollar store and 2 ten amp in line
fuses.I then cut the female end off the cord, added some alligator clips where the female use to be. I then cut the male portion off the other end and spliced in the 10 amp
fuses on each of the wires. I used the 12 volts at the
battery selector switch and hooked up the positive wire to the hot side of the switch and plugged the male portion of the cord into an ac receptacle on the
boat. Started the
generator and touched the negative wire at the other end to a ground on the
engine and WA-LA ac power restored. It immediately blew one of the 10 amp in line fuses which was an indication that it worked.
Hope this is helpful to anyone else that may run into the same issue. So many
forums state the issue to illicit help but seldom follow up with the solution that fixed the problem.
