Re: Italian motorboat to FLORIDA : ?!?!?!?

I believe you'll also have to register the boat in Florida, if you're keeping it there full-time, and that's a one-time fee of 6% of the value of the boat (maxes out at $18K).

cala... You tapped out my knowledge of your request! I don't have any more than the following:

Can you all help me summarizing all expenses/upgrades/refitting costs needed ?!?:
- shipment: 15,000 - 25,000 (Yes if skippered, maybe more if shipped)
- import: 1.5% of value (don't know)
- electrical setup/conversion: 5.000 ? (seems good)
- registration/flag: ? (don't know)
- corporation: <1000 ? (about right)
- jones act: ? (don't know)

Not a very helpful answer!!!

The electrics may be easy to overcome but if the engines and generator do not meet up with current EPA certification, you will not get permission to keep the boat in the USA.

And usually, even for cars, you might have problems on the opposite way from Usa to Europe because Europe laws are much more severe than americans regarding pollution etc etc
