Inverter Only Charges The House Bank

I'm new to sailing and didn't understand my 1/2/B battery switch like a lot of newbies. After doing some investigation, I've come to realize that my Inverter/Charger only charges the House Bank 1 batteries, even when the switch is on Both, therefore, I put it on 1 when I'm on shore-power. Makes sense considering my setup is like the picture below (see attachment). My question is, is there not a way to have the inverter keep both battery banks charged. Seems like that would be a better way to go.

if you put it on both it will charge both. otherwise something is wrong.

make sure both batteries have a ground wire joining them. if not that, then the switch is probably bad.

personally I would add an echo charger or ACR so they can charge both with the swtich on 1. both should only be used for emergancys.
