Installing 12v outlets

I bought a bunch of 12v outlets to install, but when I got them found they install with the flat slip on connectors.

How do you install these in a way that is safe? If you just slip the connectors over the pole, that could easily vibrate lose and start a fire. Is there someway to safely install these things?

I've installed hundreds of those spade connectors and have never seen an issue of them calling or vibrating off. In fact I have about 6 of those same 12v outlets spread around the boat wired in with spade connectors.

Almost every DanFoss 12v refrigeration unit on the market has those exact same spade connectors on the back of the electronic unit and I've never heard of them falling off.

if the wire is fused it wouldn't start a fire.. you'd just blow a fuse.

make sure the terminal is tight. a brand new one should be. old ones lossen up and are easier to come off. strap the wire so it won't flop around.

And if you're still concerned about a possible short, spend the extra few cents and buy the fully insulated QD connectors, then even if the thing comes loose there's no exposed metal.

Just stick some heat shrink on the females......

I think about 90% of the connectors on my boat are spade connectors.
If the wires are secured to something solid close to the connection to avoid damage due to vibration etc they will be fine

Some glue line heat shrink over the top is a good idea if they are regular connectors.

I'm not a huge fan of them but one of the better ones is shown below, a Vertex fully insulated one with heat shrink. Their failing is that after you remove and replace them several times they can loosen. If not removed they are ok.
