InLine Surge Protector for Shore Power.

Hi,

I have a 34 ft cruiser, and have gone through several "Smart Battery Chargers". the reason I believe that spikes in the Marina shore power is causing them to blow the smart charger mother boards. At least that is what I hear from tech support at Xantrex.

I would like to put in another smart charger, But, not if their electronics are so fragile, that they keep blowing out every year. I have gone through 2 since 2009, and now again need to replace it.

One of my fellow boaters at the marina has the same charger that I have, and it has run flawlessly for several years. He built his own surge protector for his cruiser. I am not technical enough to do this.

So, I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations. Is there an "In-Line" surge protector for a 130 shore power line? Or is there another way to proctect my boat from spikes that is not a major expense to accomodate?

Thanks for any advise or guidance that you can provide.

Rob

With one of these units you could protect only the charger, or the whole boat!!
