Ok, long post, but I want to give some context and background.
I have run a pool
cleaning business for 25 years plus. We use a machine called a Hammerhead, it is essentially a trolling
motor mounted in vacuum
head that pulls up debris into a bag. And of course you run it from a deep cycle
battery, it's set-up for Group 27's. I have attached a picture.
Currently I was using a Duracell
AGM battery - it weighs 58 pounds and I believe it is about 85AH capacity. I wanted to lighten my load and make my job easier so I finally decided t try a
lithium battery. Going by what I have learned I figured a 50AH battery should do the job.
This is what I bought...

It has worked well beyond my expectations. Typically I have charged my
batteries at the end of any
work day, they usually need it. With this battery I have gone 3 days without
charging just to see how it would do. Amazing !! I could never have done that with using the old traditional deep cycle
batteries.
Right now I am running an
experiment to see how long it will
power my portable fridge. I have a Iceco GO20, picture is attached. I have it set for 35 degrees. It doesn't really run that cold of course, typically it seems about 38-42 degrees, but I can tell you the drinks I have in it are nice and cold. The battery voltage is down to about 13.25v running and about 13.35 when it's not.
So far it is coming up on 24 hours and still running. It is sitting outside on my porch to simulate being on the
boat. The
weather here in NE
Florida has been in the 90's during the day, down to low 70's at night. I have opened the lid many times, including propping it open for over an over because I forgot to close it !
This has definitely convinced me to make the switch to Lithiums for the
boat. 4 of these batteries in 100AH would run less than $1200.
I hope this helps anyone else wondering if it's worth it.
