Re: I can't stand my wind gen...

I’ve been told by previous Aerogen retailers that this outfit took over, currently is the Aerogen distributor. The Aerogen MAY be available from them.

It would be great if someone who knows French reached out and confirmed.

The various Aerogen models are listed in their December 2018 price list. Including various repair/spare kits. That’s a good sign.

Re: I can't stand my wind gen...

What about the NW coast of USA and Canada? There are many days where the wind is blowing 15 to 25kts and the sky is overcast. MANY days.

Would a wind gen make more sense in this area?

Absolutely. You're relatively far north (poor sun angle unless you have a tracker to keep them oriented), leading to winter - even in full sun - low output.

Even here in Vero Beach, my output is perhaps half what it is in the summer, as I have fixed panels (and even if I could, I would not babysit them all day long, which absent some massive investment in a tracking system, assuming one could be mounted, leads to the same thing, regardless of how you have them mounted).

But when it's windy, I've been very glad to have my fan on my arch

If you have consistently high winds, something like the D400, albeit expensive, will be a very reliable producer.

Re: I can't stand my wind gen...

We are running with a 48V battery bank though (full electric drive on our sailboat). It looks like the D400 only comes in 12V or 24V output?

I mean you could boost that with a DC-DC converter but you would lose some efficiency there (they are about 88% to 92% efficient).

There are 48V output wind gens but I know little to nothing about them so far.

That's a lot more loss than I would have thought on DC to DC. Obviously varies depending on source and destination, but I was under the impression it was more like 95%.

Re: I can't stand my wind gen...

Someone said, maybe here, something to this effect:

"I hate my wind generator," said nobody, ever, on waking to a 0°F freezer and 100% SOC on their battery bank...
