HY-600W (Windmax, Phaesun...) wind generator?
Chinese manufacturer (Guangzhou HY Energy Technology), big retailers in EU and US, any experience with these?
Their power curves (p13 on the manual) seem to be interesting, producing more than most "marine" wind turbines. At low wind speeds (5m/s~=10kts) even the smallest, 400W model is rated to produce 50W.

Have no experience with this make, all I can say is that with a rotor diameter of 1,75 m their ratings could be true.

There are lots of YouTubers who have tested these Chinese wind turbines. Cant remember one that turned out to be what was advertised.

This one seems fine, and the amazon feedbacks are mixed, but mostly OK.

Appears to be a very large unit for a boat. Cant find it on Amazon for some reason.

Ahh found it. Not sure what reviews you were reading but I saw mostly negative ones from most recent reviews. At 70lbs and huge blade sweep I cant imagine using this on a boat. We spent the extra money and got one of these. No regrets.

Re: HY-600W (Windmax, Phaesun...) wind generator?
The superwind is probably the best designed windgen available. Maybe also the best manufactured. With its rotor diameter of 1,2 m it is also more sellable for yachts. However, 1,2 m compared to 1,75m is a huge difference. It is simply impossible to get the same amount of power out of the smaller diameter gen. In practice, the very good German made gen could do better than the ????? made Hy. If Hy is using fake magnets ( As many Chinese gens do ) even the big rotor will produce zip after some time. Real Neodymium magnets and a big rotor diameter : a winner.

Thanks for the hint on the magnets! The HY generators are apparently very heavy, maybe they wanted to compensate with conventional, non-Neodymium magnets.

Yes, the Superwind we have doesnt have the top output of the HY but from reading the Amazon reviews I suspect I wont be having many issues compared to the HY. I have been wrong before though! Good luck with your decision process.

Re: HY-600W (Windmax, Phaesun...) wind generator?
Dont get me wrong, real old fashion magnets are ok. We have two windgens. A slightly modified Aerogen 4 that is permanently rigged up the second mast and a self build Big whopper that uses an Ametek motor as generator. The self build gen is only used in winter at anchor. Mounted on the Sb bow. Both use old fashion magnets of high quality. Some cheap modern windgens have normal magnetised iron as magnets. After a year, the magnetism fades and the gen gets worthless. I know a guy who tries to sell one of those. Looks new, output almost zero.

There are definitely a few scams out there, however big retailers must also provide warranty (AFAIK in the EU 2 years), if the "magnets" decay in 1-2 years it would be a major issue for them.
