Where is the stator terminal on alternator?

It's one of the two spade terminals on the back of the alternator. Might be marked S = stator the other F = field

If I remember well it is marked with R. And from there I have a connection to tacho instrument on instruments panel.

Re: How to repair alternator POWERLINE Series 23-5 120 Amp 12V

I have found also the wiring.
Check the attached image.

This should be fine for testing of alternator.
Question about wiring.

1.
Black wire has to be atached on one side on housing of regulator and on the other to negative terminal of alternator?

2.Yellow goes on positive terminal of alternator?

3. And I need also to add a wire for ignition on first terminal of regulatir marked with " I " ?

4. The red one from the "S" terminal of regulator can be left unconected?

If all you want to accomplish is to test the alternator, simply install the alternator with the positive cable tot he battery and negative ground cable and full field the alternator with a wire from any live 12v source to the field spade. do not do this for long as the current produced by the alternator could be very high and will over heat the alternator. But 2-3 minutes should be fine and you can monitor the alternators output.

Ok. Kenbo , I will go with direct voltage from battery to field for just do the check on voltage display.
It will jump to 13,5 or more if alternator will be charging. this voltage will be then also present on field.

You don't even have to test it for that long. If you full field the alternator the load on the engine will increase enough that you should notice it. You will know in a second. If the load on the engine increases the alternator is producing power.

To full field the alternator use a wire with a 1/4 inch spade female connector for the field connection. Don't try to put a bare wire end to it - you would probably short it to ground.

Re: How to repair alternator POWERLINE Series 23-5 120 Amp 12V

The alternator is working.
I have tested it just using I - ignition , A - battery,
F- field, and minus on housing of powermax regulator.

And I used an another switch (no switch on instrument panel) to bring battery voltage on ignition. While the engine was idling I switched regulator on and I could notice the change of engine RPM.

With low RPM voltage on field was 13V and with higher RPM it droped to 5 V . I have a digital instrument so is harder to say the value because numbers are all the time changing. I beliewe I could take this as normal behavior. And conclude that alternator is ok.

Re: How to repair alternator POWERLINE Series 23-5 120 Amp 12V

If your up for a bit of experimenting you could put a variable resistor in the field circuit between the regulator and field terminal on the alternator and learn where the high limit is on field power to the rotor and be able to run that alternator all day without overheating even with very discharged batteries. A 0-10 ohm pot should do it.
