Hitachi alternator.

Hello all, Trying to dismantle old Hitachi LR135; 35amp alternator without success. Is it necessary to remove front pulley for access, and which way does the nut holding the fan go to remove. thanks.

Re: Hitachi alternator.

For full dismantling, you do need to remove the pulley and fan. It's a regular right-hand nut but you may need an impact wrench to remove. Alternatively, clamp the pulley in a vice being careful not to damage it, and use a regular socket on the nut.
