I have a Link 10 system that is giving really strange readings all of a sudden. Shows 51.1 volts from teh house bank. Amp Hours counter just counts up to high numbers (positive) at a rate I know my solar panels are not putting out.

The boat has been disconnected from shore power for 5 months now. Just have solar keeping the bank topped off. Main dist panel meter shows 13.1 volts and all 12 volt accessories seem to work fine.

The manual has been little help. They say that sometimes the "processor gets scrambled" and disconnecting the power for a few minutes may reset things. Not real easy access to the wiring behind the unit.

The solar charging unit indicates all is normal. It's putting only about 1.5 amps into the bank as it's full, the rest is being diverted to the resistance load.

What should I check for here?

Might it be easier to disconnect the wiring from the other (supply) end?

You might also correspond with another subscriber here, Rick (see http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/.../rick-984.html) who actually designed the unit and was helpful to me when I had a similar problem. There is a means of resetting the device that is described in your documentation. Unfortunately, that is not always the solution. In our case, the unit had simply gone bad and we had to replace it. Luckily, we found one at the West Marine liquidation store in St. Pete for, roughly, half of the list price.

Thanks - good thread. I'm hoping that removing power to it for a few minutes will fix it. Wish me luck...

before you disconnect anything, try the reset procedure.

are you certain that you twisted/paired the lines to the shunt?

Was not my installation but has been working fine up till now. I'll try the reset procedure as well. Thanks for the replies.

I suspect that once I fire up the genset and get AC going again this may resolve itself when the banks get topped off. Just a hunch that months of no load on anything with the solar charger going may have caused it to overrun a memory buffer or something.

Would be kewl if I could actually get 51 volts though.... imagine the size of the hair dryer wifey could run....

I finally figured out how to remove the unit from the navsta panel. And low and behold, one of the wires from the shunt has become disconnected from terminal #3. Now if I could just find my jewler's screwdriver I would be all set.... sigh...
