Halogen Light Identification

hi,

1) can anyone tell me what make/brand these lights are?

2) can anyone advise which LED bulb should be used as a replacement (halogen is G4)

yes, had already done the google search. the problem is i can't work out whether only the bulb should be replaced or the entire innards should be replaced.

the two option for replacement seem to be as below.

the style on the left seems to have too greater diameter for the pins to reach the G4 socket and i'm left wondering if both the original bulb and the reflector should be replaced with the style on the right (or similar)

Those you just posted won't fit.

I have the same exact fixtures in my Dragonfly.
I bought six lights from Sailors Solutions, before they came out with direct G4 replacements. I knew I'd have to do a little surgery to the fixtures to make them fit.
The project worked out fine, but now they have plug in replacements.

LED lighting, soundproof, Sailor's Solutions Inc.

Their LED's have better light distribution, are even a little BRIGHTER than halogen,80% less current consumption, great color, no RFI.

I have no financial ties, just a happy customer.

many thanks - that's just the info i needed. i've already wasted money buying two different styles of bulb to trial that looked right (but it's difficult to tell when they're in a sealed plastic pack).

one more bit of bulb info needed: is the bulb base below an E27 or something different? not being in n. america where these are common it's not easy to find out.

I think that the E26 (120V) & E27 (240V) are the European equivalent of the standard North American “Medium” Edison base.

Here are 3 pictures of the original Sailor's Solutions LED's installed in the fixture under discussion. I knew I'd have to do some Dremel tool work before I purchased them.
The newer style is a plug in replacement.

i'm not near my boat and i must have looked at a thousand photos on the www without getting lucky.

I don't know what brand they are, but I'll take a look to see if there's any identification on a fixture. I don't remember seeing anything on them.

A lot of the fixtures on the boat are from Skandvik.com
I looked on their website and in a current catalog, but they're going to LED's.
I still think they're the supplier.

i've ordered one of the sailor solution LEDs that you suggested as a trial but then the next day - wouldn't you know it - found these on the www at a UK supplier - ULTRA LED

i've ordered some - the price is good - and i'll let you know how they work out. i suspect the sailor solution LED may be brighter and therefore better for a specific location (e.g. over dinette table) whereas the ultra-led bulbs may be better for general area lighting

I tried to fit the Sailor Solution LEDs (below) in the light fittings (post #1) and found that they were too wide. The light fitting could be modified by extending the slot width but, as is, they will not fit.

The ULTRA_LED LEds (post #12) fitted perfectly and at about $US10 each (£7) seem like a good deal (brightness very similar to the G4 halogen they replaced).

Happily I could use the Sailor Solutions LED in another fitting.
