Generic Injectors for Westerbeke 7.6 BTD Genset

Well at last after a load of hours our Gen set needs new injectors ( or at least a good rebuild of the injectors) What I need is to know who made these engines so the rebuild shop has an idea of the settings and if anyone has a bright idea of where to get generic injectors. Westerbeke seem to think theirs are made from gold these days and price them accordingly.

Good luck!
Westerbeke started customizing Detroit Diesel engines (GM 71 Series) in the 30's, then Perkins engine blocks in the 50's/60's. Westerbeke took over Universal (based on Kuboto blocks) in the late 80's.
I believe Westerbeke currently uses engines from “several” manufacturers.

a serial number would help.

Injectors have part numbers stamped into them. If an injector shop can't find the specs on a given injector. I'd start looking for a new injector shop.

Good show Never Monday. The injector has a large "D" with a stylised line under it and then the numbers 3840 and under that 6H. The Westerbeke part number is 37091 ( not much help there) Would that be enough for a shop in South East Asia to work from?

My recollection is that the current models of Westerbeke (not Universal) propulsion engines are Mitsubishi based. I've never looked into their generators.

Injectors

we have a westerbeke 8BD genset that has a mitsubishi block. It would seem hard for westerbeke to modify the injectors so it would seem easy to contact a mitsubishi dealer and provide the original injectors and ask for replacements. there should be markings on the block itself (part of the casting) that would help identify the specific block. But it also seems from your post that all you may need is servicing and a good injector shop should have a database of injectors and be able to find the correct pressure from the id marks.

let us know what you find - finding reasonably priced parts is not easy...

that is a Denso injector. the 3840 and 6H should give them the necessary information. It is a Mitsu engine.

Fantastic!!! Thanks ever so much for the kind help and assistance. With prices going through the roof everywhere every little savings really does help and in our work (humanitarian relief) it is even more important. Thanks again!
