Fuel Pump On Generator Died... Which Solution?

I have a 24k genset that has a mechanical fuel pump which no longer works. I have three options:
1) intall new tank above genset and use gravity fed system
2) replace mechanical pump
3) install electric fuel pump (don't know what size I need.

This is NOT on a boat. I am posting this here because I lurk everyday and have seen the amount of combined knowledge their is on this site and am sure somebody can help lead me in the right direction. This is a back up power source for my office/warehouse.

I hope nobody gets mad for asking a question not directly related to boats.

Have you considered replacing or making a new diaphram for the fuel pump? That is if you can take it apart.
Also, if you are going to use a gravity feed system, unless your fuel bowl float system is in really good condition,,i would mount the tank so the base was just inline with the base on the carburetor, to prevent flooding.
Replacing the fuel pump is always the best option...good luck..

If it’s a gasoline unit considered converting to propane or natural gas if available, eliminates storage problems, problems. If you raised fuel supply of both the carburetor make sure you have a good shutoff valve, as sooner or later the float will start to leak. If it is diesel consider replacing the pump with a Walbro. They are a well-known industrial pump. Just my two cents, Mike.
