Fischer Panda Problem

Hello all,

I have FP PMS 6000 ND Generator, it's a 220v 50hz model. Yesterday, without warning it stopped generating AC current. The engine runs fine, no problem there.

I have read in the manual that the winding can lose it's magnetism and can be "re-excited" with a 9v battery.

Does my problem sound like a loss of magnetism in the winding?

If anyone has experience with this sort of thing I would appreciate some insight.

Best,
Meck

Check all the cap in the control box, typically the winding will lose it's magnetisim when the gen is left to sit for extended periods.

Re: Fischer Panda Problem

Thanks Sailmonkey, The Genny is used on a daily basis, so maybe it did not lose it's magnetism?

What do mean by "check all the cap in the control box"

My FP has a box with 4 terminal posts (incoming and outgoing voltage I assume?)

Re: Fischer Panda Problem

You need to check the continuity and resistance between the brushes and the slip rings.

Re: Fischer Panda Problem

Have you done the simple things like checking all the cut out switches...My Onan has two and the one on the side could not be see or reached easily because of how it is installed.

Engine runs but no electricity until reset.

Re: Fischer Panda Problem

You don't have the stainless steel box full of capacitors? if so, open it up and check per page 98 of this manual.

No brushes or slip rings here.

Re: Fischer Panda Problem

We had the same symptoms on our Northern Lights generator. It was the brushes and slip rings. Wasn't sure on the Panda but thought I would throw it out there.
