Fault with First Start of Generator ?

i have a honda 2000 petrol generator which will not start on first attempt, after a few trys it will start up and run fine. if turned off it starts again no problem. i have had the carb checked and soaked but its still the same. anyone know what the problem could be?

Doesn't sound like a problem to me. Pretty much what we have experienced with both the 1000 and 2000 for years. Chuck

Might I ask, how old is the sparking plug?

recently changed when the carb was cleaned. resister replaced too

Then I wonder if you're priming the engine enough Kerry. Remember, a rich mixture is easier for the engine to 'light' than a lean one.

That is, is the enrichener/choke doing it's job adequately?
