External fuel tanks for portable generators

Question for those that are using the external tanks for their generators. Do you also keep your main tank topped off that’s within the generator? I’m interested in using this but would like to not have any gas stored in the actual generator so I can store it down below and keep the gas in a vented locker.

Re: External fuel tanks for portable generators

If you disconnect the internal tank and provide a connection for the remote tank this will be the case. I actually stuck a note in the internal tank to prevent the accidental addition of gasoline which would behave just like beer.

Provided you run the carb dry before storing.
