Espar D2 Exhaust Insulation

Hello there,

Any suggestions for better / thicker insulation for Espar D2 diesel heater with 24mm exhaust?

The woven fabric is so thin and still ridiculously hot.

Thanks!

Andy

Mar 2, 2008 - Was very interested to learn in the previous 'Eberspacher D2' thread that ... I thought of further insulating the exhaust with some of the insulation that .... 15 mm thick.. then there is an (apx) 50 mm outer stainless steel flexi hose.

I buy most of that stuff from a shop called advanced diesel. I think it is a chain. Maybe there is a shop in your location.

Re: Espar D2 Exhaust Insulation

I wrapped mine with the exhaust insulation fabric tape available at any auto parts store. 1 roll was enough to double wrap and it is only warm to the touch.

Rockwool 810. Cheap and there is no better isolation. Don, 't close it the first time if you heat it up, so dissipear the smell better. Later no smell and really great!

I used automotive exhaust pipe heat shield, especially after installing a water maker in the engine room. https://www.summitracing.com/int/par...1604/overview/
