Enhancing the battery life

I have Optima D34M 12V Deep cycle AGM battery set on my cruise. It's reliable and I'm satisfied with it. I heard that we can enhance the life of the battery for up to 4 years more by using Power batt. I read that it changes the structure of battery and improves I am hearing about it for the first time, so I was curious to know if anyone else is using power batt. I thinking about using it on the battery. I'd appreciate your suggestions and feedbacks.

Works best if you strongly believe in it. Apart from that, opening an AGM battery usually destroys it.

So..... says it works with flooded lead acid batteries and AGMs, not gels.


Maybe that means there are some unsealed AGMs out there in the battery world, although I've not seen any advertised. All AGMs I've read about are valve-regulated, sealed. The Optima is a sealed battery, IIRC, and were it me, I wouldn't try to pry it open to add anything, including distilled water..



Maybe the product has the same effect as equalizing batteries... but even doing that depends on the manufacturer's recommendation... and most makers don't recommend equalizing their AGMs.

The verbiage on the website screams snake oil to me. Granted I didn't dig far enough to see if it's a poorly done translation.....but either way......pass.

Yes, what everyone else said. Sounds like a solution of magic foofoo dust to me.

My take on anything like this, if it really was that good, at least one of the battery manufacturers would be using it and blaring the benefits all over their ads and promo literature to sell more batteries than their competitors.

Not sure why six pack type batteries are chosen for house battery duty.

They have ~25% less capacity than a rectangular AGM and are usually no cheaper.

The power of Marketing often defies the logic of Physics.

You want to enhance battery life? Recharge it promptly and properly to full and do not overdischarge it.

Do NOT feed the marketers.

Not too many years ago there was some electrical tomfoolery that was supposed to de-sulfate batteries, anyone know if this ever paned out to do anything worth while?

You're probably thinking about gadgets that claimed various types of electrical pulses would desulphate batteries. They varied in frequency and amplitude but basically slight variations on the same theme. Many controlled tests showed no benefits at all over proper, regular charging with periodic equalization as appropriate for the battery type.

Yes that is it they were claiming they could rejuvenate batteries that were so badly sulfated they were unusable. I wanted to build one and give it a try but never did. I was hoping someone here had tried it out and could give a positive report on it.

We tested several and planned an article but non worked at all after 2 years of controlled testing so wrote the manufacturers for comment.
One even agreed with our results and quit shipping

Another concept that might work on paper but not in the field
