Does anyone recognize this solar arch?

In this video at 1:35 you can see a clear image of the arch. Its a rail mounted solar arch. It appears they have a foldup bimini also attached separately, but i'm really only interested in the arch. I am not having any luck yet with google but still searching.

There is no shortage of deck or transom mounted arches but i'm not interested and only want to mount a couple of very light Sunpower panels. I am not sure I need the strength or complexity of a deck or transom arch.

Here is the YouTube link;

I couldn't be bothered searing through a video to find a decent shot of what you are talking about. Specifying the time in the video or posting photos may help you get more responses.

You couldn't be bothered to read the first f'ing sentence? Thanks, I'll look for a more helpful forum website to ask.

I haven't seen a rail mounted arch before. Perhaps it's a custom job.

I'm looking at doing something vaguely like that using bimini hardware, so less professional. And I may need to pay someone to bend the tubes.

hello; i have no idea who made the arch (that btw only took moments to view) but i really like it. i'm also inclined to think that it is a custom job as well. all the best; r

Nothing hard about bending tubes. Fill with sand and do gradual bends. Bimini hardware will work but I would drill out the set screws and the side of thevtube then put in 1/4 inch stainless steel pop rivets. All of that being said I think you will be disappointed in the amount of sway you get. That sway will also work the stanchion bases hard creating leaks. You could maybe X brace it to help but that is going to be ugly. Might get by with some corner braces of SS tubes using 45 degee fittings at the top bends. All that being said I would hang some panels off the lifelines using stage lighting clamps that you have put SS hardware into. These fold down easily for docking. You will find this easier and cheaper and I think you would be happier. Good luck

Thanks for the link to the video. Possibly the best piece of video editing that I've seen on a sailing site. Truly talented.

If you look at 1:59 in this video you can get a pretty good idea of the construction. Looks to me like off the shelf brackets. Some welding and triangulation at the top corner. Definitely custom.

Looks like it has stood up pretty well for some years.

That an MPI arch. The lettering "MPI" can be clearly seen in the (lovely!) video. Thanks for the link.

Good eyes Loredo, i had not noticed. I found a site MPI-Inox that looks like they will customize an arch and have pics on their site of similar arches on other boats. I'm guessing they had it made from them possibly.

Ha! I'm becoming a pest i think. I ask them many questions and they politely answer but takes a while. They are still sailing down in Chile so I dont think have internet often.

I thought the same and was trying to see in their videos if i could see it swaying. There are some scenes (might be the video i linked) where they are sailing in some fairly rough conditions and the arch does move but not as much as i thought it might. I think the guy from Saillife used dyneema to make a crossbrace for a similar problem.

Agreed. Amazing footage from some absolutely stunning places i hope to sail to as well.

They started in France and have done a fair bit of sailing with it with what looks like much heavier panels than i plan to mount, and i agree, seems to be holding up well.

I wanted to do exactly what you're talking about (then bought a different boat, haha) and found this site: https://www.geminiproducts.net
You might talk to them. I think the arches at Sailrite might work, too.
