DC Generators?

I'm looking for a 24v DC generator in the 250-500A range. Size, noise and fuel consumption are all concerns. Does anyone have any suggestions? Links would be greatly appreciated.

Ample Power: Bio-Diesel Battery Chargers
Balmar: They build a military unit but have built a Kubota/190 amp alternator unit in the past. Contact them directly for details.

C E Niehoff has a 500A 24V alternator that would work if you have the engine to push it.

C803D - 28V 500 Amp

here's the output curve:

Yee Ha!

Yeah. That'd definitely caught my attention. Any idea how best to size the diesel to run it?

If that's all the engine is running, it's pretty straightforward. Niehoff will give you the torque and power requirements if you contact them.

FWIW, Polar Power has a new line of DC generators, powered by Volvo engines (not the Lombardinis shown on the PP website. I have some data pdfs on the new units; if you'd like them send me a PM.
