Cost of LED Nav and Masthead Light

The prices for LED nav lights varies widely from what I can tell. What have people spent to get their anchor and running lights replaced with LEDs? We use a tri-color, but also have bow and stern running lights.

While not cheap my Orca Green mast head light has worked flawlessly for 3 yrs and 12,000 miles.

Worth $300 not to have to go up my 76ft stick.

We swapped out the tricolour and the anchor light with LED a few years for about $140US.

The steaming lights are still incandescent.

With the exception of two fluoros in lockers we retrofitted LEDs into all other fixtures and added some additional lights. These were purchased through a seller on eBay for $250 something US.

All in all it was well worth the time and money. The entire boat, refrigerator and all run on two 120W solar panels....with only occasional deficits that require alternative inputs.

I replaced all my lights with aqua signal 40/41 and replaced the bulb with LED from Dr. LED. the LED cost 30 to $60 each. My first mistake was using white LED which worked great for the anchor, stern and steaming light, but made the Bow and TRi color turn pink and blue. had to rebuy LED's that were red and green to correct the color. I also replaced the mast steaming and deck light. I replaced the deck light with an LED round truck back up light and I love it Lights up the front deck great with a nice white light. does not seem to reflect off the deck and rigging witch I like. My anchor light is the brightest one in an anchorage and the nav lights are big and bright. Very happy

EUR 15 for anchor white LED sealed bulb (standard mount).

EUR 40 for tri-color LED for our tri-color Hella masttop (BAY15d).

We have a standard Hell tri, so a white bulb is not an option.

Complete lights sell for EUR 15 upwards here (per each - RGW).

Boat Lighting: led lights for your boat

I've purchased tri-colours, bi-colours and single colours from SourceLED in Vancouver and am very impressed with the quality and price. The bulbs have a nice milled aluminum body and are fully weatherproof. I think the tri was under $50. Canadian.

I emailed the company directly as they don't seem to be distributed through the big chandlers.

Best do a web search now as whilst prices seem to remain static, the quality of the globes has imporved substantially and I've no doubt will continue to do so.

We replaced tri / anchor / steaming incandescent globes five years ago for earlier styled LEDS and it cost us less than $100 off the web.

Kept the old globes as spares but never had to use them - the LEDS lasted 20,000 miles and a few oceans - still working when we sold the boat last year.

I hear what others say about not using white LEDS inside coloured lenses but frankly we did and no one ever commented about brightness or resulting colour.

The latest LEDS which we are now installing on a new boat are so much brighter that those earlier ones yet do not seem to be much more expensive......the warm globes for below deck use are really impressive.

Cheers
JOHN
