The Electrodacus BMS units look a smart bit of kit (electrodacus.com). But they are focussed on controlling solar. Are there reasons why not to use, say, their SBMS 120 or several of them to control power from a Victron Multi charger and an alternator going into a bank, or banks, of lithiums? Advice appreciated.
I don’t understand that question. A BMS shall protect the cells and the bank. It’s job is not to regulate charging sources.
A charge source designed to operate at maximum power will be perfectly fine doing so into a lithium bank.
Charge sources not capable of doing so must be properly limited so they stay in spec.
What exactly are you trying to control? A multiplus can put full power into a lithuim without issue. If you don’t want full power you can reduce the charging amps in the setup. In fact they come at only 80% chsrge rate default from the box.
The alternator needs to be protected from overheating. Which a bms is not going to do.
