Cheap little temp sensor with audible alarm?

Hi folks,

My 3 battleborns are under my bed and while my primary charging source (alternator with wakespeed ws500) has a battery temp sensor on one of the bank's terminals, and battleborns and lifepo4 is inherently quite safe, I still think I'd sleep better at night if I had a little bit of temperature monitoring going on all the time.

I'd love to just stick a little battery-powered temp sensor on each individual battery and have them emit an alarm if the temperature rises above some threshold... but haven't found such a product. Anyone have any suggestions?

There are "snap disc" sensors/thermostats, which are cheap and can be used to trigger a 12V alarm. I've used one on wet exhaust by just hose clamping it to the pipe.

Not sure what temp you need to alarm at though and if they are avail with that temp range?
Grainger or McMaster Carr.

Re: Cheap little temp sensor with audible alarm?

If you are a bit of a DIY person you could use any cheap temp relay and then connect the output to any buzzer/alarm you want. Nice thing is they can be programmable and the temp probe will have a lead. Not wireless though but battery operated safety devices out of sight and mind tend to end up with dead batteries.

Here is an example (no endorsement just an example of what you would be looking for)

They are simple devices and often found inside other devices for cooling purposes. When the probe gets hotter than the set temperature the relay closes often that relay is connected to a fan or something but you could also connect it the battery and an alarm buzzer, light, combination light/buzzer, etc.

If you want it hidden you can just attach locally some cheap alarm buzzer but for a fancier setup you could put a alarm lamp/buzzer on your nav station panel connected to the relay output (and DC neg).
