Most West
Marine stores have a crimper on site that works well with
battery cable ends. I like to put a bit of flux on the bare cable then solder after crimping with a
propane torch, along with a good thick shrink tubing. Mostly just to keep
corrosion out of the exposed copper.
Double check what cable size/diameter should be by measuring length ROUND TRIP. ROUND UP!
Your cable to the panel may not need to be as big as for the
engine starting.
Watch your routing so a cable doesn't rub through and cause a fire.
