Both alternators have just stopped producing power.

I have a 400 ah of Lithium with a kilowatt of solar and 2 agm start batteries on my catamaran.
The alternators each are charging through their own Balmar MC-614-H Voltage regulators and then to a Victron Orian Smart dc to dc charger.
My system and batteries are all Victron.
Up until a few days ago the alternators were charging fine, then I noticed that the Starboard alternator was showing a negative charge when just running that engine. The port was operating as normal.
I examined the Balmar voltage regulator and cleaned up a corroded terminal and presto! My Starboard charge was back.
The next morning, both alternators have stopped producing charge to the batteries.
The battery bank did get down into the low 20 percentages hence the reason for starting the engines in the morning.
I'm hoping there's a setting in on the vistron side that may be the culprit but am hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
Thanks

Re: Both alternators have just stopped producing power.

First step is to determine if the problem is with the regulators or the alternators.
The Balmar tech manual is excellent with step by step instructions. Rather than reproduce it here, recommend you start on page 13 and work through the troubleshooting guide: https://tinyurl.com/3dbe9pa9

Which BMS is installed? Does the system have a CerboGX? What does Victron Connect report about the batteries?

Do you have an Orion DC DC for each Alt/start ? What model are they?

Re: Both alternators have just stopped producing power.

Does the field power for the system come from a single source/wire? Does it have a fuse in it like it should have? Is the fuse blown?

Maybe cleaning the contacts increased the power demand enough to blow the fuse. I think this is like one of the first things the Balmar regulator troubleshooting tells you to check. And like said, that troubleshooting guide is pretty good.

OP
What are the results of using the Balmar troubleshooting guide?

Re: Both alternators have just stopped producing power.

You havn’t posted how things are wired. Are the alternators going direct to the house bank. Or to each engine bank?

Where is the Orion connected. What battery on input and what on output.

Why do you only have 1 Orion with 2 engines.

Do you have the bms atc wire controlling the ign wire on the mc614? Do the regs turn on and show screen when engine on?

Which batteries are not charging. House or engine or all.
