Blue Sea ACR with Different Battery Types

I bought this before I bought my used gell cell batteries. I have a normal wet cell starting battery and a big bank of gell cells. I cannot quite figure out how to use the ACR to charge the wet cell at a higher voltage and the gell cells at a lower voltage with the majority of amps going to the house bank. Anyone have some suggestions?

What you propose can't be done with an automatic charge relay (ACR) as it is, simply, a relay and a relay is an electrically or electronically activated switch.

You can use a Balmar Digital Duo Charge BALMAR Combiner at West Marine to accomplish what you want. It will use up to 30 amps from the charging source to charge a second battery of the same or different chemistry.

Hope this helps.

using an ACR to combine wet cells and Gell isnt a real problem as long as all your charging sources are set to Gell settings, its not ideal but it will work. it does result in an undercharged wet acid battery, but since thats the starter no big deal.
