Saw this article today and got excited about the implications for cruisers.

I wonder what the charging requirements would be for a LiIon battery? I suspect a alternator/chrarger design for a lead acid battery would not work safely. LiIons have a nasty reputation for exploding if over worked, I believe.

Some Li-ion chemistries have a positive thermal runaway problem, but some do not, for example LiFePO4 doesnt.
