Beneteau 12volt charging, 24 volt winch

Does anybody know how Beneteau wired up the 12v charging circuit to 2x12volt batteries connected in series for the 24 volt winch

Look for a Yandina "trollbridge" unit?

They probably didn't. And it probably only charges from a shore charger

Get a dc to dc charger. 12v to 24v.

If it's the arrangement I am familiar with, you will have two or four 12V batteries up there in the bow. Under normal conditions, they are all wired in parallel through the relay box up there with them, and therefore are charged as your service and engine start batteries are, through dedicated charge splitters for each battery bank (from engine alternator, and from shore power, depending if you are running or plugged in).

When you hit the windlass button, the relays in the relay box change the connection from parallel to series. So if you have two batteries, you end up with 2 x 12V = 24V. If you have four batteries, you end up with two lots of 2 x 12V = 24V, and those two pairs are then paralleled to give you double the current capacity.

It is the same system as used with 24V bow thrusters on 12V boats.

I hope that helps.
