Battery Terminals?

On some batteries, it would seam that you can get different battery terminals.
Is there some that are better than others?
Attached is from Lifeline, but I know other battery manufactures have others also.

Thanks,
Extemp.

I doubt that it makes a lot of difference, but I like the ones that allow you to use a standard ring connector (1/4", 5/16", etc) on the end of the cable. That way, you attach the cable and you know its secure against vibration and coming loose. Also, since stainless steel (used in the studs or bolts to attach the cable) isn't such a great conductor, you want a terminal post that allows you to real get the cable in good contact with the terminal.

The Marine Batterey Terminal, pictured on the bottom left is the best choice. This allows use of both conventional automotive battery clamps, and ring terminals.

Assuming I were not constrained by existing cable ends...I would choose the SAE's if I were going cruising as one can always find SAE terminal batteries if one goes bad. No need to change the cable ends in that case.

I apologise for not being clearer - I intended to recommend the dual (both SAE Post & Threaded Stud) battery terminal, similar to the Crown Batteries pictures here:

I note that 3 out of the 4 pictured are made of copper. I prefer the lead post as it requires less maintenance. Copper and a salt enviroment dont mix well.

I cover mine with Tef-Gel....I never get the "green stuff" or any oxidation for that matter.

I have always like the "military style" that goes on an SAE terminal with a 3/8" bolt for the cables.

I have seen way too many ring connectors on batteries due to poor planning/installation with inline fuses....it gives ya nightmares.
