Just had the wonderful experience of a
battery fire while I was absent from the yacht - and thankfully, the local team jumped on it before it took hold.
Pretty sure it was a fault within one of my four 150ah
AGM batteries that created the drama and have had it replaced under warranty.
Although I’m running a ‘smart charger’ Pro Nautic 12-40P, the unit uses a voltage variability measurement to determine if
overheating is occurring - and switches itself off (presumably) - but doesn’t issue an
alarm.
So that I can sleep easily at night, does anyone know of a temperature
sensor system that can be applied to each
battery with maybe a Bluetooth warning to a smart
phone? I’d even be happy with a simple audible ‘over temp’
alarm...
I’ve spent hours trolling the net but can’t find something that sounds like a simple fix.
